Six Flags St. Louis: 40th Anniversary Edition

Six Flags St. Louis opened as Six Flags over Mid-America for the first time on June 5th, 1971 in Eureka, Missouri as the third and last Six Flags park to ever be built from the ground up. The park only consisted of a Railroad, Log Flume, Sky Way and many other attractions. Over the years, the park's skyline has changed dramatically as additions such as Mr. Freeze, Colossus (Ferris Wheel), Screamin' Eagle, Superman: Tower of Power and their newest addition for the 2011 season; the SkyScreamer!

Almost everyone in the St. Louis area has visited this thrilling theme park for it rides, attractions, as well as shows and beautiful scenery! Along with the rides; Hurricane Harbor a new area that was added in 1999 became the first intra-park water attractions area, which boosted attendance over the years.

Recent renovations came in to place as the popular kids area; Looney Tunes Town was relocated uphill and renamed Bugs Bunny National Park. American Thunder currently sits where Looney Tunes Town once stood.

It has been a GREAT pleasure drawing something like this! Just in time wasn't it? I initially announced this when I was creating PROJECT 2010 (now Six Flags Centennial). I keep promising to myself that I will have this goal completed, and you know what...

...I DID!!!

I got to go to the park the day after their 40th Anniversary celebration. They had TONS of confetti still on the ground! Can't believe I missed out on the celebration! It was great doing something like this and it felt great as I did before with my previous project.

Notable attractions that are colored for the first time are as listed:

- Colossus (Ferris Wheel)
- Screamin' Eagle (35th Anniversary)
- Old Glory Amphitheater
- SkyScreamer (NEW for 2011!)

The only change I made to the drawing is remove the "40 Years" emblem. Let's just say that removing it was a pain and left a pretty big burn mark. But covering it with storage buildings didn't seem to be a problem, I fixed it though.

Like I said, it was great doing something like this, and I accomplished my goal and ready to set another one!!

Thank you guys so much for viewing this, and Six Flags, I hope you're reading this as well! I'm still going to visit this park and hopefully in the future, my kids will be able to visit this beautiful park as well!
